new to the trip- driver cam in the rocket My trip is part of my recovery and as I’ve mentioned before I hope to raise some money along the way for post cancer rehabilitation for others patients. A big thank you to everyone who has pledged and donated to date. Roz thanks for your pledge and payment when I passed Brissy, surely you thought I would make it further than that!  Rouge and Pete, I thought of you as I passed Mt Warning and Judy and Ian, South West Rocks a beautiful spot.

You can donate by clicking on the Pledges and Donation tab above this post or by clicking HERE. IMG_1629 I left the rocket at BAP – Budget Airport Parking, Brisbane’s closest off airport parking to head back to Sydney for some medical appointments and meetings again.  The guys from BAP dropped me at the airport and picked me up on the way back.  The rocket was tucked up, undercover with lots of admirers for a few days, what a great service!

On to the Sunshine Coast to catch up with lots of friends.  Along the way I was back in full swing with the usual cult following behind me; thank goodness for multi-lane highways. the rocket hanging out with rockys holden ute at noosa I contacted my old mate Paul in Noosa, who I’ve know since I was a teenager……… when I looked a bit like this! what the #@@#!!

And he had parties that looked a bit like this……..

Perfect timing as I had arrived just in time for a twilight sail at the Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club. the rocket and myself depart the noosa yacht & rowing clubWhile I was lurking around the club Paul introduced me to a couple of the mums who also moonlight as rowing coaches and I was invited to do a couple of rowing sessions with them.  This was a great experience being on the water again with some really energetic and enthusiastic kids and coaches.  Go Girls!!   IMG_1578 rowing coaching @ noosa I stayed at Paul and Sue’s and hung out in Noosa for a few days eating icecreams in Hastings Street, walking through the national park, swimming at the beach and joining in a few board meetings.  I saw my first motorized surf board!

lurking at noosa- you decideNext time your in Noosa catch the ferry from Tewantin with Noosa River Ferries,  especially if the skipper’s name is Andy and he is doing the commentary, he’s so funny he will have you in stitches.   noosa ferry cruiseNearly everyone in Noosa has an IE or a Y after their name……Andy, Rocky, Brownie, Gracie, Timmie, Wolfie, Meggie, Paulie, Micky, Barry and Paddy the list goes on.

From one great host to the next.  When I left Paul and Sue’s I stayed with Barry and Helen at Peregian Springs for a couple of days.  Barry and Helen’s daughter Mel and her husband Paddy (who live a few doors down in the bay at home) were also in town.  Some more great hospitality, great dinners and as always lots of laughs with  friends.

Helen and Barry’s son Austin and his wife Anna invited me to their property at Eagles Nest just outside Noosa where they grow limes , a gorgeous spot, it was so good to catch up.

My stop in Noosa was like one big friend stop, connecting with friends and not just in person, I even spoke to Rob Walker from Wintech Racing on the phone for ages, reminiscing about rowing, family and friends.  I had a night at Lake MacDonald with some more old friends from Pittwater, Steven and Val Bell.  Another great night so many old photos and stories.  Friends really are the sunshine of life!
